Onychomycosis, also known as tinea unguium, is an infection of the nails caused by a fungus and is commonly referred to as a fungal nail infection. Fungal nail is the most common nail disorder and accounts for around half of all nail conditions. Whilst fungal nails can affect both the fingernails and toenails, the fungus more commonly affects the feet. Symptoms often cause white or yellow nail discolouration, thickening of the nail, and separation of the nail from the nail bed. Whilst fungal nails can affect fingernails, it is more common for toenails to be affected. There have been a number of clinical studies which suggest that the long-pulsed Nd: YAG laser treatment can be used to treat fungal nail infections.

Glycolic peels are not considered to be the most advanced form of facial available. The alpha-hydroxy acid ‘glycolic peel’ is derived from sugar cane and has the smallest molecular of the AHA family. It can therefore penetrate into the skin much more effectively than other alpha hydroxy acids. It is not absorbed into the body and so will not cause any systemic side effects like chemicals in other peels. A gentle glycolic acid peel can be performed with varying percentages of glycolic acid.
