Glycolic peels are considered to be the most advanced form of facial available. The alpha-hydroxy acid is derived from sugar cane and has the smallest molecular structure of the AHA family. It can therefore penetrate into the skin much more effectively than other alpha hydroxy acids. It is not absorbed into the body and so will not cause any systemic side effects. A gentle glycolic peel can be performed with varying percentages of glycolic acid. At Laser Skin Solutions we use a 40% acid enabling clients to achieve the skin rejuvenation they desire with minimal side effects. Glycolic acid loosens the glue-like bonding or cellular cement that is characteristic of many skin conditions such as ageing, acne, skin discolouration and coarse texture. After a few weeks, your skin will look brighter, clearer and blemish-free.

Glycolic acid helps reduce cell ‘build-up’ by resurfacing the skin to reveal a dramatically softer, smoother texture, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It can also help to reduce scarring. People that get this treatment find it a relaxing experience and only have mild tingling on the skin whilst the peel is applied.
