Rosacea is a progressive, inflammatory vascular disorder which primarily affects the central part of the face and is recognised by facial flushing/blushing, facial redness, pustules and thread veins. It rarely affects the scalp, neck, chest or other areas. In serious cases,  particularly in men, the soft tissues of the nose may swell, producing bulbous enlargement known as rhinophyma. Intense pulsed light treatment has been shown to be very effective in rosacea treatment. the process that causes this is called photothermolysis. The light therapy treatment destroys the abnormal vessels that cause the Rosacea effect, allowing thicker-walled microvessels to be laid down.
