Blackhead Treatment

Blackheads normally occur when large pores in the skin are filled with environment dirt. Natural oils from our skin, creams and makeup can all contribute to blackheads. The clinical term for blackheads is an ‘open comedone’ or ‘comedones’ in plural.

Blackheads often occur for the first time during puberty due to fluctuating hormones which can increase the oil production in the skin. This in turn clogs up our pores which turn black when exposed to the air.

Whilst it may be tempting to squeeze blackheads to extract the debris, we advise against this as this will make the pores bigger.

Here at Laser Skin Solutions we recommend using glycolic acid in the form of a daily wash and topical treatment. We also recommend glycolic peels. These have a purging effect on the skin which, if used regularly, helps keep skin clean and clear.
