Sunspots – Causes Cures and Care
Sunspots, known medically as solar lentigo (plural, solar lentigines), are usually caused by excessive sun exposure. Sometimems referred to as senile lentigo (age spot) they are dark, (hyper-pigmented) lesions caused by UV light, either from the sun or sun beds. They can appear on the skin as single or multiple lesions. Although they are benign and therefore are not cause for concern, they do indicate excessive sun exposure which in turn can increase the risk of developing skin cancer.
Sunspots are very easy to remove with laser treatment. The darker they are, the better the chances for complete removal. For more information of sunspot removal, please visit our pigmentation treatment page.
